How It Works

Positive Pet is a remote controlled training collar that uses haptic feedback (vibration) instead of shock. The vibration is strong enough to get your dog’s attention and distract them from bad behavior, but it is not painful or harmful in any way. The remote button has 2 functions: a short press and a long press.

Short Button Press

A short press is enough for most behaviors that can be quickly corrected such as climbing up on furniture or begging for food.

Long Button Press

A long press is useful for stubborn breeds that need extra feedback, or for dogs that have trouble paying attention in distracting environments.

  • How far away will the remote work?

    The remote can be used up to 55 feet away from the main collar unit.

  • Will this activate to the sound of barking, or do I always have to use the remote control?

    Positive Pet only activates by the remote control. This encourages consistent, hands-on training. It does not activate by sound.

  • My pet is deaf or has hearing loss. Can I use this collar?

    Absolutely!  Vibration training is perfect for deaf dogs and cats.

  • Is Positive Pet waterproof?

    We do not recommend the collar be submerged or worn while swimming, but it can easily withstand rain, sprinklers, and messy drinkers.

  • How long does training typically take?

    While many behaviors can be interrupted instantly, permanent training is a process. Actual time frame for training heavily depends on the behavior and the temperament of your pet. Certain behavior changes can be seen in as little as 1 day, while others can take several weeks. It is important to remain consistent, and always praise good behavior!

  • Can I use this with my pet's regular collar?

    Yes!  Since there is no risk of false activations from tags, bells, or friction; the Positive Pet can easily be worn with your pet’s other collar.

  • What size pets can use this collar?

    Dogs should be at least 6 months of age and weigh at least 6-8 pounds.  The collar length can be trimmed to fit a neck size from 8-26 inches. Cats should be at least 1 year of age and weigh at least 3-5 pounds.  The collar length can be trimmed to fit neck sizes down to about 6 inches.  The "cat" version can also be used on smaller dog breeds or very timid dogs, since the vibration isn’t quite as strong.

  • Is this collar safe to use on puppies?

    The collar is safe to use on puppies, but we do recommend you follow the minimum age and weight guidelines listed above.

  • Will it work on pets with long hair?

    Yes. Your Positive Pet will come with three different magnetic plates to customize for your pet’s hair length. There is a flat plate, a plate with smaller round bumps, and a plate with taller pointy bumps to reach through longer hair.

  • How long does the battery last?

    The battery can last 2-3 days depending on use, but it may be less during initial training (since there is more usage).  Simply charge the battery as needed, just like you would with your cell phone.
