I've heard an amazing amount of neighbor's barking dog stories – even had one of my own. I understand and feel the pain of it, the frustration of it, and the just plain helplessness of it.
For those of you who've never dealt with this particular situation, I'm sorry, but it's just not as simple as asking your neighbor to reduce their dogs' barking. It's a rare neighbor that listens to a grievance and fixes it. For those of you who do, thank you!
That's why I was happy to see this story from the UK. They take dog barking seriously as one woman found out.
Her dog would bark incessantly, causing a lot of disturbances and angst with neighbors. What is incessantly really mean? On one occasion the dog barked around 625 times in seven minutes, and the sound of barking echoed around the street and could be heard clearly, even when indoors with doors and windows firmly shut.
After being warned many times, she got a big fat fine: £2,000!
If owners were held accountable for their dogs' barking, there probably would be better relationships between neighbors along with a lot of peace and quiet.
