Dogs need consistency and repetitive training in order for them to learn new behaviors, tricks, or boundaries. Our bark control products use a simple yet effective ultrasonic sound frequency to train dogs not to bark and stop other unwanted behaviors.
But what happens when similar tones are used for additional types of training – like invisible fences? Good question. We do not recommend the use of any ultrasonic bark control product in conjunction with invisible fences (especially not shock fences).
Doing so will confuse the dog and cause a lot of frustration for both you and your pup.
Electric or invisible fences come in many forms, but the core concept is the same. They usually use a warning tone – ultrasonic or audible – to warn the dog when they are getting close to the fence line. If they then reach this boundary or go beyond, they will be shocked until they go back. The warning tone trains them that if they don’t want to be shocked, then they need to stay within the specified area.
Our products don’t shock the dog, but the use of the high frequency tone is similar to the training style of an invisible fence. When barking is detected, our device emits a loud, high-pitched tone that dogs don’t like. After a few weeks, and with repetitive training, the dog will learn not to bark if they don't want to hear that sound.
Since both of these products use the same style of training, using them in combination would not be suitable. This will go for any kind of bark control product – shock or no-shock.
